Brittany Johnson, M.Ed., LPC

Clinical Director
Howdy, my name is Brittany Johnson, and I am so thankful for my role as the Clinical Director at The Warrior’s Refuge. A little about myself: I have a Master of Education in Professional Counseling from Lamar University and Bachelor of Science in Criminal Psychology from Texas State University. I am also a certified Trauma Informed Counselor and a licensed Behavioral Technician.
I am currently licensed to practice by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Board as a professional counselor. I completed my practicum, and internship at Capital Area Counseling in Austin, Texas. Prior to my journey as an LPC I worked in the public-school setting as a special education teacher serving nine amazing years in title one schools in the Austin and Northeast Houston areas.
I love working with adolescents, adults, and families. Currently I specialize in trauma informed and PTSD. My Theoretical orientation is a psychodynamic approach while incorporating cognitive behavioral therapy, guided relaxation, and visualization techniques. I believe that mental wellness and overall well-being is a holistic regimen that includes nutritional healing, spiritual and emotional health as well as self-advocacy.
When I am not working, I fill my time with decorating and settling into my new home and spending quality time with my Lab, Sugar Bear and German Shepherd puppy Rambo. For fun I am currently awaiting my acceptance to pursue my Ph.D. as a PsyD. Wish me luck!
Thank you all for your continued support for The Warrior’s Refuge and our mission to help the lives of all the veterans we serve each day. The Warrior’s Refuge is truly an amazing place, filled with wonderful people. Please come by and visit us sometime.
Much love and light ♥♥♥
